Heavy Mountain
The USRA Heavy Mountain
“T”
Class steam locomotive was a USRA standard class designed under
the control
of the United States Railroad Administration, the nationalized railroad
system
in the United States during World War I. Southern Railway operated 63
of these
units. Most of these were built around 1919. There are two Buchman 4-8-2
Mountain units on the A&BR, one hauls a short log train and the
other is
damaged and currently resides under the old coaling tower on the
approach to
Altamont Yard. |
